Global Navigation Satellite System [NAV-GNSS]                                                                                                                                     5 Days

Will GNSS ever become the ‘sole means’ navigation service?  What does this mean?  Can the current satellite systems be improved to achieve ‘sole means’ and what are the enhancements required to make the system acceptable for civil aviation use?

This 5 day GNSS course is designed to give a clear explanation of satellite constellations used for navigation, signal structures, system errors and a full explanation of the different types of augmentation that can be applied. The course will look at the current limitations of satellite systems and reviews the GNSS vulnerabilities. The course will also discuss future planned improvements to GPS and GLONASS, it will review the progress of SBAS and GBAS before discussing the emerging European and Chinese constellations GALILEO andBEIDOU. This course aims to provide participants with an in-depth view of GNSS, its principles and benefits for civil aviation. - Eurocontrol

Airspace Concept Workshop for PBN    Implementation                                                                                                                 5 Days

This workshop is a continuation of the ICAO/EUROCONTROL Airspace Concept workshop for PBN Implementation.  The 5 day training package ‘walks through’ the seventeen activities described in the handbook.  The course is designed to highlight the fact that any PBN implementation is about teamwork and is a multi-disciplined task.  The workshop is based around an airspace change and aims to highlight to everyone that an implementation is just like a puzzle; no one person holds all the pieces.  This message is enforced by a practical exercise where two teams will redesign a set of SIDs and STARs.  The exercise is aimed at highlighting the importance of good airspace design to reduce both controller and pilot workload.

ICAO 204 - Threat and Error Management                                                                                                                                         5  Days

This course aims to aid understanding of the nature of occurrences (whether an unusual situation or an emergency) by providing background information about how a variety of occurrence arise and their effect on aircraft and crew. To build on the 15 proposed checklists for emergencies and unusual incidents which form part of the CAAs work to enhance controller training in the handling of unusual incident. This Module is developed around the ‘ASSIST’ Process.

Refresher training includes training in standard practices (including phraseology), human factors and abnormal and emergency situations.
These three elements make up refresher training and all three elements are required to be undertaken for a certificate to be issued
Course includes simulator and classroom activities.

1.Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems - A Regulatory Overview
Provide the landscape of evolving standards, requirements and rules at ICAO, JAR, FAA and European level
Familiarise attendees with the key principles of emerging rules across the aviation domains (organisations, airworthiness, competence of remote pilots, operations, detect and avoid, command and control data link, airspace integration etc.)
Inform on expected developments at international level and on rules applicable in Europe both at common and national level.

Provide attendees with a basic understanding of the safety related aspects of operations involving non-military drones.

2.Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems - ATM Integration.
Participants will have a basic understanding of the integration challenges for RPAS, which will be addressed from an ATM perspective. The course will provide an overview of the present state of play, including from the perspective of an RPAS operator.

Aerodrome Resource Management  - Runway Safety                                                                                                                       5  Days

Runway incursions occur when communication breaks down, errors are not caught in time and situational awareness is lost. Aerodrome Resource Management – Runway Safety is a safety training course for operational airport staff on how to prevent runway incursions. It will help airports develop a strategy to prevent these occurrences from happening.
The successful introduction of local runway safety teams is fundamental to ensuring the prevention of runway incursions. The goal of such a team is to work together to identify the local causal factors of runway incursions and find local solutions to prevent their recurrence.
Currently all the members of these multi-professional teams work at the forefront of operational safety as individuals, whereas they need to be carrying out their work in the manoeuvring area as a team.
The Aerodrome Resource Management course is designed to train trainers for local runway safety teams and all operational staff working in the manoeuvering area. - Eurocontrol
